Jay One-Room Schoolhouse County Road 8 (2 1/2 miles north
on County Road 8 off US 20)
Step back into the year 1901 and attend a one-room country school
complete with puncheon desks, slate boards and McGuffy
readers. Visiting hours: 1st Sunday of each month,
May - October from 1 - 4 p.m.

Mud
Lake Bog State Nature Preserve
North of
Edon on State Route 49
Permit needed from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of
Natural Areas and Preserves until better visitor facilities are
developed. Only remaining boreal "kettle-hole" lake in the
area. Rare submergent plants. Alkaline fen on one
side of the lake and acid sphagnum on the other, both containing rare
plants. |
Nettle Lake Mounds - Ancient
Hopewells
North of US
20 on County Road 4.75 on the west side of Nettle Lake
Owned and managed by the Williams County Historical Society since 1965,
the ancient Hopewell Mounds are located west of Nettle Lake, near a
woods along a quiet stream. These mounds are the most
northern mounds known in Ohio. This site is in the National
Register of Historic Places.
Visiting Hours: May through October from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. Located
The Haverstock Gallery at the Williams county Museum complex (located
on the fairgrounds) contains a collection of Native American artifacts
from the Hopewell, Archaic and Woodland Culture. |

Raceway
Located 2 miles west of Edon on State Route 34 then south 1/2 mile on
the Ohio/Indiana State Line Road

Nettle Lake, a natural lake; Lake La Su An and Lake Seneca, man-made
lakes. Fishing, hiking, hunting. Permit and
reservations required to fish. Boat access and swimming at
Shady Shores Campground on south end of Nettle Lake. Also
Hopewell Indain Mounds state historical site are on the west side of
Nettle Lake, the northern-most know in Ohio. Contact Lake La
